2009-2010 Annual Campaign

Dear Friend of TRRA:

We hope that your fitness training and time on the water during 2009 delivered rewards as rich and satisfying as those enjoyed by the hundreds other members of TRRA. Wehope you agree that we have had another terrific year for our organization as a result of our growing First Row program, the success of our Adaptive program, our hosting of the USRowing Junior Development Camp and the achievements of several TRRA junior rowers.

Our First Row program, in partnership with Communities in Schools, continues to inspire young, at-risk girls in Pittsburgh’s public schools to discover rowing at the all-important formative stage of their lives. Without this program, these girls would not otherwise have the opportunity to learn the skills provided by rowing and First Row’s mentoring program.

Our Adaptive Rowing program continues to prove that life with a physical disability is no bar to the rowing life. Members of the TRRA Adaptive team attended the 28th Bayada Regatta in Philadelphia, rowing in an Open 2x and in 1x, taking home medals in both events.

TRRA’s good reputation and the public’s high regard for rowing and paddling spread further during the past year thanks to frequent and favorable news coverage of our athletes and their accomplishments. TRRA was fortunate to have two athletes from our juniors team attend National Team Camps this past summer.

Our youth are a large focus this year, and we look forward to continuing this growth. For a second year, TRRA has been selected for the invitation only USRowing Junior National Team camp.

We hope that your appreciation for TRRA’s efforts on behalf of rowers and paddlers will take the form of a personal or corporate contribution to our annual development campaign. Gifts of this kind have made significant contributions to our operating funds for many years and are deeply appreciated by the board.

Your gift will be applied to upgrades and maintenance of our docks, especially those at Washington’s Landing, and to energy-conservation improvements at the Lambert Boathouse, where pro bono technical consulting service will enable us to leverage your gift for greater benefit. In addition, the 2009-2010 Annual Campaign will continue to support programs such as First Row and Adaptive Rowing.

Please accept our sincere thanks in advance for your willingness to consider our request. We or other members of the board and staff will follow up by phone to hear your response.
