Paddling for Peace


Mission:
Promote Non-Violence within our community
Introduce Allegheny County Youth to Team Water Sports
Develop Youth Leadership
Encourage volunteerism of the youth
Enhance Youth's sense of self, accomplishment, understanding of diversity
(youth from diverse neighborhoods, cultures, ethnicity, socio-economical backgrounds),
and ability to work with others toward a common goal.
Goals:
All participants will model respect for others and self
All participants will learn the skills and history of Dragon Boating
All participants will understand the dragon boat as a metaphor for life
All participants will increase their appreciation of the Three Rivers and water sports
All participants will commit to solve problems without violent means
All participants will improve their body, mind and spirit through this activity
All participants will celebrate and appreciate diversity
