4th – 7th Grade Recreational Rowing

4th-7th Grade Recreational Rowing

Come join the Three Rivers 4th-7th Grade Program for our 2018 Fall Season! The 4th-7th Grade Recreational Rowing program exists to introduce individuals to the benefits of rowing on the rivers of Pittsburgh. Alums from the 4th-7th grade team go on to row for the Three Rivers Junior Rowing (TRJR) Team (LINK) and have future opportunities in college and adult rowing! Our season runs from mid-September to Early November.

Emphasis within the 4th-7th grade team is on the fundamentals of rowing. Individual improvement, and lifelong athletic development. Participants will be introduced to the sport of rowing through both land and water activities during each practice. The program begins by learning about proper technique and safety, but participants quickly progress to rowing on the water in sculling shells. The coaches for the 4th-7th grade program come from the Three Rivers Junior Staff, and the Three Rivers Community as a whole. Our coaching staff will make safety and long-term athlete development a particular point of focus.

  • No experience necessary
  • Open to students in 4th-7th grade
  • Accepting students from all schools

The program will take place from 4:00PM-6:00PM on Wednesdays from September 10th-October 29th.

Extra Practices (fee applies)

Athletes who wish to sign up for extra rowing will have one additional practice per week from 12:00PM-2:00PM on Saturdays from September 15th-November 3rd. Please note, there will not be a practice on Saturday, October 6th as the largest rowing race in Pittsburgh – The Head of the Ohio – is being run by our club that day!

The fee for the program is $120.00 and is due to TRRA at the first practice. Needs-based athletic scholarships  are available for qualified applicants. The fee covers coached practice, a team tank top, and an invitation to watch the 2018 Head of the Ohio Regatta. The fee for extra practices is an additional $120.00
