Dear Three Rivers Community,
We are all familiar with the old saying that begins, “March comes in like a lion”. Well, March is here and if you take a quick scroll through this newsletter, you will see that there is no shortage of activity taking place at either of our TRRA campuses this month.
Our staff continues to work diligently to prepare for the 2022 water season. We are hoping that the flow rates will drop next week to a point where we can get some launches in the water and address the damage to both the Millvale and Washington’s Landing docks caused by the recent ice flow and flood events.
I encourage everyone (Coaches, rowers, paddlers, parents/guardians, et al.) to use these next fews days and weeks to make sure they are all prepared for a return to the water. Make sure you are registered on Regatta Central for the 2022 year. Make sure your USRowing membership is up to date and linked to the TRRA roster. If you are 18 or older, complete your Safe Sport training before the race season is upon us. Check out the end of winter sales and stock up on high visibility training gear for the year. Use this time wisely so we can maximize our time on the water as soon as the docks open.
Fingers crossed that when the docks do open, conditions will be calm and gentle, like a lamb.
Take Care,
Matt Logue
Executive Director

COVID-19 UPDATE:
In light of the updated COVID-19 mask guidance from the CDC and the Allegheny Health Department, TRRA will transition to a “mask optional” policy effective immediately. Masks will no longer be required while indoors or on TRRA campus property.
Those who choose to train indoors at either TRRA campus must still have proof of vaccination on file with TRRA. Additionally, windows must continue to remain open with fans in use for all indoor workouts.
We encourage all TRRA staff, athletes and visitors who choose to continue to wear masks while indoors to do so.

A Long Talk Community Conversation
In January 2021, several members of the TRRA community had the opportunity to engage in A Long Talk About the Uncomfortable Truth, an anti-racism activation workshop. This was a powerful, 3-day conversation that had a profound impact on all who attended.
As we transition from winter to spring, and the ability to safely meet for in person conversations increases with each passing day, we plan to resume building on this initial conversation collectively, as a community. In the coming weeks and months, our Advocacy & Inclusion committee and DEI Book Club will be announcing conversation opportunities that will be open to everyone, and that will expand our knowledge as we continue our pursuit to be a more inclusive and diverse organization.
If you were not able to be a part of the first conversation, A Long Talk is hosting a FREE community conversation, beginning on March 7th. This 3-part workshop is open to anyone and we cannot recommend it highly enough. If you are interested and able to join, here is the registration link:
